To mark the launch of the summer campaign, Switzerland Tourism along with its partners Swiss International Air Lines, Swiss Travel System/Rail Europe, Jungfrau Railways/Interlaken and Engadin St. Moritz transformed a subway shuttle train into a veritable Swiss journey.

Both the outside and the inside of the train are completely covered with Swiss imagery. New York City’s “S” shuttle runs between Grand Central Station and Times Square.

Egypt Desperate for Foreign Tourists: Egyptian Tourism Industry Hit Hard by Political Turmoil

A year after the uprising that ousted former President Hosni Mubarak, fewer tourists are visiting Egypt. The sectarian division and crime that have risen during the country’s political turmoil have made the local tourism industry much more desperate to attract foreigners. Egyptian authorities are also having difficulty convincing travel agencies that the winner of the upcoming presidential election will not introduce bans on Western beach attire or alcohol.

Egyptians are hoping that the new president will return stability to the country and restore faith in its vacation resorts. Tourism Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour gave this statement, “I assure you that given the importance of tourism in the Egyptian economy, I don’t think any political force, any political party, or any politician for that matter — that is in a democratic atmosphere accountable — can harm this important sector.”
